Complete tutorial on how to work with slides and their components in PowerPoint (step by step)
To start learning PowerPoint software, you need to start with slides. In this post, we will fully teach you how to work with slides, their components, layout, organization, change, move and apply colors and themes to slides in PowerPoint.
Introduction
The PowerPoint presentation is made up of a number of slides. Slides contain information that you can present to your audience. Slides may include text, images, and diagrams. Before you start lecturing, you need to know the basics of working with slides.
Understand slides and slide layouts
When you create a new slide, it usually has components or components. Components can be different types of content (movies, songs, etc.), charts, and images. Some components have icons that you can replace with your own text. Other sections have small icons that allow you to import images, charts and videos.
Slides have components for creating components, depending on the type of information you want. Whenever you want to create a new slide, you have to choose a slide that fits your content.
Insert a new slide
Each time you start creating a PowerPoint, the slides are displayed with different layouts. You can choose the slides from the layouts according to your needs.
1. Click on New Slide in the Home tab.
2. Select the desired slide design from the menu that appears.
3. A new slide will appear. Click to add text and start typing. You can also click on the icons displayed to add other types of content such as a photo or chart.
4- To change the existing slide design, click on the Layout command, then select the desired design.
5. To quickly add a slide from the same design, click on New Slide in the Home tab.
Organize slides
The PowerPoint presentation contains the slides you need. Slide panel makes it easy to organize slides. In the slide panel you can repeat, rearrange and delete slides.
Work with slides
Duplicate slides: If you want to copy a slide quickly, you can duplicate it. To repeat the slide, select the part of the slide you want to repeat, right-click on the mouse and select Duplicate Slide from the menu that appears. You can repeat multiple slides, select them first and perform the said operation.
Change slides : Changing slides is easy. Just hold the slide and drag it to the desired position.
Delete slides: If you want to delete a slide from your presentation, you can easily delete it. Select the slide you want to delete, then press the Delete or Backspace key on the keyboard.
Copy and paste slides
If you want to create multiple slides with the same layout as before, you can copy the slides you created earlier.
1. Select the slide you want to copy in the slides panel, then click on the copy section in the Home tab.
2. In the slide panel, click below a slide (or between two slides) until the horizontal entry line appears.
3. Click Paste on the Home tab.
4- The slide will appear in the selected location.
Resize the slide
By default, all slides in PowerPoint 2013 are defined as 16: 9 or screen width. Widescreen TVs also use a 16: 9 aspect ratio. Slides will work better with widescreen displays and projectors. However, if you need a standard 4-by-3 display to present yourself, it is easy to resize the slide to fit it.
To change the slide size, select Design, then click Slid Size. Select the desired slide size from the menu that appears, or click Custom Slide Size گزینه.
Remove slide background
By default, all slides in your presentation have a white background. Changing the background is easy for some or all slides. The background can include a design, pattern or image.
1. Select the Design tab and then click on Format Background.
2. The Format Background section appears on the right. Select the desired options. In our example, we use the Solid fill option with gold color.
3- The background of the selected slide is applied.
4. If you want, you can click Apply to All to apply the same background to all slides.
Apply a theme
A theme is a predefined combination of colors, fonts, and special effects that can be quickly applied to entire slides. Different themes change the order of existing components. We will talk about themes later.
1. Click Design and then click the drop-down list to see all available themes.
2- Select the desired theme.
3- The selected theme will be applied to your entire presentation.
Try using several different themes for your presentation. Some themes will work better depending on your content.
Efficient slide layout
Sometimes you may find that the slide design does not exactly meet your needs. For example, a design may have too many or too few components. You can also sort the variables yourself. Fortunately, setting up slide layouts in PowerPoint is easy.
Placeholder settings
To select a placeholder: Place the mouse on the edge of the slide (text box) and click on it (first you need to click on the text box to see the border). Selecting it instead of the dotted line will complete the line.
Move placeholder: Select the place to write, then click on it and drag it to the desired location.
Resize placeholder: Select the location you want to resize. Measurement categories will appear. Click and drag on the measurement handles to reach the desired size. You can use corner measurement handles to resize the icon at the same time.
Delete placeholder: Select the place you want to delete, then press the Delete or Backspace key on the keyboard.
Add a text box
The text can be placed in the text box. Inserting a text box allows you to add text to a slide show. Unlike other methods, the text box always stays the same, even if you change the theme.
1. From the Insert tab, select the Text Box command.
2- To drag the text box on the slide, click, hold and drag the button.
3- The text box will appear. To add text, click the text box and start typing.
Use blank slides
If you want more control over your content, you may prefer to use a blank slide that contains no variables. Blank slides can be customized by adding text boxes, images, charts, and more.
To insert a blank slide, click New Slide, then select Blank from the menu that appears.
While blank slides have more flexibility to present, keep in mind that you can not use pre-designed layouts in every theme.
To play the presentation
Once you have your slides arranged, you may want to submit them. The display actually presents the slide to the audience.
1. Click the Start From Start instructions in the Quick Access toolbar to view your presentation.
2- The presentation will appear in full screen mode.
3- You can move to the next slide by clicking the mouse or pressing the space bar on your keyboard. You can also use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move forward or backward.
4. Press the Esc key to exit the presentation mode.
You can also press the F5 key on the top of your keyboard to display a display.
