Occasionally you may decide to lock some apps installed on your Android device. There are several effective solutions such as guest account definition, screen pin setting, third-party apps, and Samsung’s Secure Folder that help you lock apps on Android.

Before starting, it should be noted that all of the instructions in this article are applicable to mobile phones and tablets running Android (7.0) or higher. So be sure to upgrade to your Android device to continue.

How to lock apps on Android using Screen Pinning

7. Tap Pin.

1. Open Settings and touch Security & location.

2. Tap Other security settings.

3- Tap Pin Windows.

4- Move the switch to enable screen pinning.

5. Tap Ask for PIN before unpinning to activate it.

6. Tap Overview and tap the app window you want to lock.

7. Tap the thumbtack in the lower-right corner of the screen and then OK.

How to lock your Android guest account using Android

If you want to share your phone with someone else and want to keep all your apps, settings and files hidden from view, you need to create a guest account. Guest account functionality is similar to a regular account, but uses separate instances of apps on your phone.

When you activate a guest account, none of your apps or personal information will be accessible.

For Android Pie 9.0 and Orio 8.0:

To build a guest account on Android Pay and Orio:

1. Tap Settings and then System.

4- Tap Guest to switch to other users account. You can also tap the gear icon at the top right of the screen.

5. If you would like to be able to receive phone calls in the same account environment, switch to Turn on phone calls to activate it.

On the next screen, touch OK.

7. In addition, you can activate the guest account by opening the Notification panel and touching the user icon at the bottom of the panel.

8. Tap on Guest mode to switch accounts.

For Android 7.0:

1- Go to Settings> Cloud and accounts> Users, then tap Guest.

2 Drag the panel downwards and tap the user icon at the top right of the panel.

3. Tap Guest.

Using the Secure Folder you can protect your favorite apps with the security option. If your phone does not have Secure Folder and Android version of device 7.0 or higher you can download it from Google Play .

Note: Secure Folder is pre-installed on Samsung flagship devices such as the Galaxy S7 / S7 Edge, Galaxy + S8 / S8, Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy + S9 / S9.

1. Tap Settings, then Lock screen and security.

2. Tap the Secure Folder.

3. Tap Lock Type.

4. Touch Select lock type.

5. Select Pattern, Pin, or Password, then continue with entering your expression and confirm it.

6. From the application driver, tap on the Secure Folder and then on Add Apps.

7. Tap Lock in the upper left corner of the screen.

8. A short message appears on the screen with the theme that Secure Folder is locked. You will be shown a lock message when you try to access Secure Folder.

1- Go to the Norton App Lock page on Google Play and tap Install.

2. After installation, tap Open.

5. Tap the Allow display over other apps switch.

15- Tap the yellow lock icon in the upper right corner of the screen, then tap on the lock next to the apps you want to protect using your passcode.

16. When apps are locked , only the password you created before allows access.
