Battlefield V Minimum Spec PC Performance, What Does Minimum Get You?

Battlefield V is now out, sort of. If you’re a member of EA Origin Access Premier then you’ve got access to Battlefield V Digital Deluxe Edition right now.

Thankfully both AMD and NVIDIA have drivers ready to go for the title right out of the gate.

So with that we decided to get started on performance testing,

but wanted to kick things off in a bit of a different direction.

We’ve already taken a look at how modern APUs can handle the game,

but now we wanted to start with how things are looking for those working with that Minimum Spec listing.

BATTLEFIELD V MINIMUM SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows 10

  • Processor (AMD): AMD FX-8350

  • Processor (Intel): Core i5 6600K

  • Memory: 8GB RAM

  • Graphics card (NVIDIA): NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 1050 / NVIDIA GeForce® GTX 660 2GB

  • Graphics card (AMD): AMD Radeon™ RX 560 / HD 7850 2GB

  • DirectX: 11.0 Compatible video card or equivalent

  • Online Connection Requirements: 512 KBPS or faster Internet connection

  • Hard-drive space: 50GB

Testing Methodology

All testing was done in this round using DX11 since DX12 resulted in constant stutters so it is a no go for the minimum spec PC,

we’ll be looking into if that changes on higher tier hardware later but don’t count on anything being any different.  We tested the game on the Minimum Spec PC at the beginning of the Tirailleur Episode as it’s well lit,

relatively open and carries a of the effects in the game so it should be pretty representative of overall gameplay in the single player version.

We didn’t drill down Multiplayer performance,

but we did take the 1080p Medium preset and record gameplay using our El Gato HD60S with overlays enables to give you an idea of what multiplayer gameplay performance looks like since recreating scenes is nearly impossible for performance comparisons.

We did disable motion blur and vsync in all these tests as changing the graphics presets turns vsync back on and turns motion blur back to 50%

Multiplayer Gameplay in Video

Conclusion

In all honesty I was pretty pleased with how well this new entry to the Battlefield series ran,

I have a lot of issues with the game itself but not the performance.

Sticking to 1080p with predominantly medium settings and some tweaked to low should get you a really smooth experience.

I found no real problem playing the multiplayer at 1080p Medium and the gameplay captured in the video was actually my very first every round of Battlefield V (outside of the beta) and was played at 5am, the performance wasn’t an issue and the feels per second were comfortable.

But at least now we know what they targeted for their Minimum Specifications and how that looks in the real world.

There was a time when Minimum meant it would turn on, now at least it shows that it means comfortably playable.  If you’re playing in Battlefield V already,

let us know how things are going for you.  Maybe by the time we’re done with all the testings we’ll be doing RTX functions may show up and surprise us with more work.
