11 awesome WhatsApp features we didn’t know about

If you have just started using WhatsApp or have been working with it for a long time, you may be missing out on some of the cool features of this messenger app.

Below you can find some of these hidden WhatsApp features.

WhatsApp allows the user to quickly or italicize the message. To do this, it is necessary to place special characters on both sides of the text to be changed.

Use (* bold *) for text in WhatsApp; _italicize_; and for Strikethrough (~ strikethrough).

2 – Give your message a star tag

Starring a message is the most appropriate way to refer to a phone number; address or subject link that someone has sent you. Hold your finger on the message for a few moments, then select the Star icon.

To see starred messages on your iOS device, select the Star tab at the bottom of the screen. But Android users should first tap the Menu button and then Starred Messeges.

Who do you talk to the most?

Want to know who your best friend is at WhatsApp? If you have an iPhone, the answer to this question is very simple.

Follow the path Settings -> Data and Storage Use -> Storage Use. A list of contacts with the most memory on your phone is displayed. You can tap on any of the contacts in this list to see more information and explanations. Among the information that is displayed to you is the number of transmitted messages, photos, GIFs, and more.

Android users can go to Settings -> Chat -> Chat History -> Email Chat to see this information.

See the description of the messages

Ever wondered when a message was received or read? Simply swipe your left message on the iPhone 5 to get the information you want. But Android users just have to hold the message for a few seconds and then tap the “info” icon at the top of the screen.

2 – Mute any conversation you want

When you enter a meeting or movie theater, use the WhatsApp Mute feature to mute the sound of a group or conversation you have with a friend.

Android can hold their finger on the chat for a few seconds and then tap the speaker icon at the top of the screen with a line drawn. But iPhone users must first open the conversation, then tap on the name of the contact or group that appears at the top of the screen, then select Mute.

WhatsApp allows you to mute chat for 1 hour to 1 year.

4 – Hide the “Last seen online” status

Don’t like random friends or audiences from the last time you were online? Go to Settings -> Account -> Privacy -> Last Seen.

WhatsApp has three modes for this: Everyone ؛ My Contacts ؛ Nobody.

Disable message access

You can disable the visibility of the message to prevent others from seeing you sent them. To do this, go to Settings -> Account -> Privacy and uncheck Read Receipts.

But keep in mind that disabling this option will also prevent you from mutually understanding whether or not your message is being read. But this feature will still be active in group chat.

4 – Prevent default storage of photos and videos

If you care about empty space on your phone, you can ask WhatsApp not to store photos or videos.

On the iPhone go to Settings -> Chats and turn off Save Incoming Media.

Unfortunately, this option is not available for Android users.

Run Run WhatsApp on your computer

Contrary to what many people think, it is very easy to run and use WhatsApp on your computer. Doing this involves selecting Whatsapp Within on the mobile app; go to web.whatsapp.com On the computer and scan the QR code on the phone.

Check out this address for complete instructions.

Optional notifications

Instead of using one ringtone for all received messages, you can set one ringtone for each contact. By doing this, you get the message – without looking at the phone – you know who you got it from.

Android users should tap on the menu icon and then go to View Contact -> Custom Notifications.

But iPhone users using WhatsApp just have to tap on their target audience chat and then go to Custom Notifications.

Export the conversation

If you need to save one of your conversations you can export it. When viewing your conversation, tap the Menu button and then go to More -> Email Chat.

Chat on iPhone 5; tap the contact name at the top of the screen; then scroll down to the Contact Info window and select Export Chat.

Both platforms allow you to export the conversation with or without media.
